Saint Laurent Sets Summer Slip Dress Trend

Saint Laurent is kicking off the summer with chic new designs. Former Creative Director Hedi Slimane was right on the mark with the reintroduction of the silk slip dress in his Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The silk slip dress has already been noted one of this summer’s biggest trends. Deep cut with spaghetti straps and in varying lengths and cuts, Slimane’s version of the slip dress brings 90’s grunge chic to the modern woman.

SL adSaint Laurent is experiencing major changes this summer with the departure of Creative Director Hedi Slimane in April and the introduction of Anthony Vaccarello as Slimane’s successor. Vaccarello has already gone public with his vision for the brand with the recent release of new campaign images. Shot by fashion photographer Collier Schorr, the campaign images surprisingly do not show any new Saint Laurent styles ‒ or any clothes for that matter. The images focus more on the fifteen fresh faces tapped for the campaign and less on the actual fashion itself.

Celebrities like the Kardashian/Jenner sisters, Rihanna, and Emily Ratajkowski have been seen sporting the 90’s slip dress look from mini slips to longer versions. Slimane originally introduced in his 2013 collection. Justin Bieber sported the palm printed bomber jacket in February for the 2016 Brit Awards from the menswear collection while both Lenny Kravitz and Harry Styles opted for Hawaiian print shirts from the brand’s Surf Sound collection.
