The company slammed racist commenters after slurs were posted next to a photo of a dark skinned model with full lips backstage at New York Fashion Week. Mac, known for their diversity among products and employees, took a stand and released a statement to digital publication Digiday.com. “MAC stands for and respects All Ages, All Races, All Sexes. We do not tolerate any abusive comments in our community.” Mac’s Instagram bio also reflects the message of diversity saying: “The Official MAC Cosmetics Instagram. All Ages, All Races, All Sexes.”
Mac has been extending its color pallette for years, giving women of diverse colors more options. On Mac’s website the company features another dark skinned model with blue eye liner sitting near vanity lights and applying makeup.
